Just finished watching “Fools Gold” on M-Net, and man, do I wanna go diving now.
Coolest hobby ever, but living in good old Gauteng kinda restricts dive opportunities. Sure, we’ve got a couple of decent quarries nearby – namely Miracle Waters (where I in fact did most of my early dives) and Bass Lake, but in winter they’re kinda chillos. I know the die-hards dive there all through the year, but I personally feel that frostbite is overrated – I’m kinda partial to having 10 fingers and 10 toes.
Re: the movie – just read a rather nasty review of it, but hey, sometimes you just wanna relax with a fun entertainer flick, instead of an in-depth analysis on society. Lighten up folks. Have some chill time, get into a crazy story and watch Kate Hudson flit about in a bikini – nothing wrong there. Beautiful tropical islands, crystal clear water, luxury yachts (for when I win the EuroMillions lottery) – I can think of nothing better to look at on a cold winter evening. Not everything has to be serious and thought-provoking ALL the time. Personally, I enjoyed it.
Back to my whining about not getting to dive often enough – was actually offered the opportunity to go diving at Aliwal Shoal (one of the top 10 dive sites in the world by the way) this weekend, but gotta work. Work work work – it’s seriously starting to interfere with my me-time. Pah – salaries!
Time to make a plan – gonna invest in the world’s warmest wetsuit, and see if I can dive bomb Miracle Waters ASAP.
