Changing your blog theme – don’t try this at home…

Revolution Church Theme
If you’ve been paying attention (and I did spell it out for you in a couple of posts just two days ago – here and here), I’ve been trying to change the theme / template of this site from one of the old boring Blogger standard ones to something ever so slightly… ummm… less awful.

Enter Bloganol. This site takes the more popular themes from WordPress, and converts them to work on Blogger. How? No idea. But it works, so that is about as much interest in the whole process that I’m going to admit to.

They’ve got a whole bunch you can choose from for free, so I decided to go with this one. Simple, but decent enough for my needs – I’m not trying to out compete the big boys of the web here with their featured videos, expanding links, opinion polls and blah blah blah… I just need a place to look at photos of fast cars and faster women, and a place to mock certain sections of society, most notably hippies. And you.

Now I’m definitely no programmer, which is why I would not have had a hope in hell of using anything other than the Standard Blogger templates if it wasn’t for nerds. There is a LOT of code that needs to be changed to make these things work. Had to Google around 10 different items of coding that needed to be changed.

You pretty much have to follow step by step the things these folks type to get results. Going off on your own is pretty much guaranteed to result in you deleting everything you’ve ever posted, sending your banking details to a Nigerian scammer, and emailing your neighbour’s dog to explain that he is a Class A Tosser who is terrified of ants.

So trust me on this one: if you have no idea of what basic programming is (check), are not prepared to follow instructions meticulously (check), and think computers are the spawn of the devil (check), then you probably shouldn’t try this at home.

I tried. I failed. So I swallowed my pride and hit Google. Two days later… and here we are. Everything SEEMS to be fine. But if it all goes to hell in a handbag over the next couple of days, then I say: Blame the nerds. I followed all their instructions to the last code tag, so if you are unable to see the photos of Megan Fox previously posted (Noooooo! Say it isn’t so!), then I apologise. It’s a work in progress…
