Weird things said in job interviews…

And you thought you were rubbish at job interviews? Well fear not: at least you aren’t one of this lot. You aren’t, right?

CNN has published a list of some of the crazy things said in real job interviews. Here’s a snippit of some of the pearlers that I think it is safe to assume resulted in the uttering of the dreaded phrase “Don’t call us. We’ll call you”. You really want to read the full list over at CNN.com by clicking here. Trust me on this one…

Why did you leave your last job?
“I have a problem with authority.” – Carrie Rocha, COO of HousingLink

Why should we hire you?
“I would be a great asset to the events team because I party all the time.” – Bill McGowan, founder, Clarity Media Group

What are your weaknesses?
“I get angry easily and I went to jail for domestic violence. But I won’t get mad at you.” – Pechstein

Do you have any questions?
“If I get an offer, how long do I have before I have to take the drug test?” – Bolzan

Tell of a time you made a mistake and how you dealt with it
“I stole some equipment from my old job, and I had to pay for its replacement.” – Meistering

And my personal favourite? This one:
Have you submitted your two weeks’ notice to your current employer?
“What is two weeks’ notice? I’ve never quit a job before, I’ve always been fired.” – Meistering

The mind boggles. Minus 10 points to each person quoted here. Sorry folks, but you have clearly proven that you are not yet ready to have the honour of stustake points (patent pending) bestowed upon you just yet.
