WordPress Comment Spam is clearly getting out of hand. Take a look at the below screengrab of my WordPress Dashboard. It shows the current tally of spam comments over a 24 HOUR period – circled in red.

Spam Comments over a 24 hour period
I now receive more spam comments than spam emails… awesome!
And it’s not as though ALL comments are mistakenly being sent to the spam folder – so far the plugin I’m using, Akismet, hasn’t got it wrong yet.
Real comments from actual readers post fine (which I welcome, and actively encourage, so get writing!), whilst everyone trying to offer me either Russian porn or discount viagra gets booted to the spam folder.
No thanks: I’d rather not watch Olga get her freak on, or buy prescription meds from someone who bulk emails and has no fixed address, but thanks for thinking of me. Doos.

God I hate comment spammers. Trust me I know how you feel, I get so many of them on my site too, (which isn’t even a blog, it just has a comment field) probably because I decided to use WP as a CMS. They say the stupidest irrelevant ‘compliments’ to try to trick me! How do you deal with it??
